Sebastian's SEO Diaries

By Sebastian Blackwell
Technical SEO & Website Optimisation Specialist

People ask me how I ended up at Signal & Strategies more often than you’d think.

The truth?

I wasn’t actively looking for a new role.

I was perfectly happy spending my days buried in technical audits, solving indexing issues, and helping businesses improve their websites.

Then I received a message from someone named Anisha.

It Started with a Conversation

She wasn’t looking for “just another SEO specialist.”

She was building something much bigger.

A marketing agency where every team member genuinely specialised in their field, collaborated with one another, and never stopped learning.

She didn’t ask me about rankings.

She didn’t ask me how many websites I’d audited.

Instead, she asked something much more interesting.

“What excites you most about technical SEO?”

That told me everything I needed to know.

She wasn’t hiring for a résumé.

She was hiring for passion.

The Interview

Calling it an interview almost feels inaccurate.

It felt more like two people discussing ideas.

We talked about search intent.

Website architecture.

Core Web Vitals.

User experience.

How great marketing is never about chasing algorithms but about helping real people.

By the end of the conversation, I realised something.

We weren’t discussing a job.

We were discussing a shared vision.

Meeting the Team

Not long after joining, I met everyone else.

Maya immediately introduced herself with enough energy to power the office for a week.

Patch somehow had analytics open before I’d even sat down.

Raina was sketching branding concepts that looked incredible.

Silas was already experimenting with the latest AI tools before most people had heard of them.

Sophie was solving website issues faster than I could finish my coffee.

Zariya somehow knew everyone’s favourite coffee order within two days.

It didn’t feel like joining a company.

It felt like joining a family.

Why I Said Yes

Technical SEO can sometimes feel like a job where you’re working quietly behind the scenes.

At Signal & Strategies, it feels different.

Everyone understands how every department connects.

Social media supports SEO.

Branding supports user experience.

Content supports search intent.

Analytics guides every decision.

We’re all working toward the same goal.

Helping businesses grow.

One Thing I Didn’t Expect…

There was one small complication.

The founder.

It’s remarkably difficult to maintain an air of professional composure when the person who recruited you also happens to have one of the brightest smiles you’ve ever seen.

I’ve become exceptionally good at pretending I was looking at literally anything else.

The office, unfortunately, is not convinced.

Maya notices everything.

Patch has, apparently, started timing how often I glance toward Anisha’s office.

Zariya finds the whole situation endlessly entertaining.

As for Anisha…

She either has absolutely no idea…

…or she’s simply choosing not to mention it.

I’m hoping it’s the first one.

Looking Ahead

Joining Signal & Strategies has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Every project teaches me something new.

Every challenge pushes me to become better.

Every client reminds me why technical SEO matters.

I’m grateful Anisha reached out.

I’m grateful I said yes.

And I’m even more excited to see where this journey takes us.

Now, if you’ll excuse me…

I have a website audit waiting for me.

And, according to Maya…

Someone to absolutely not accidentally look at across the office.
